The Centralized Background Check Unit (CBCU) at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) has been notified the Department of Public Safety (DPS) continues to experience a backlog of transactions for fingerprints completed in August 2025. DPS and the FBI are working to resolve the errors but a timeframe for completion has not been provided.
Resubmitting the background checks will not resolve the pending status. Those with a pending background check status will remain pending until the background check error is resolved.
